The Eye Test

We take your vision seriously and recommend you have an eye test every 2 years, or more frequently if recommended by your optician. There are numerous methods to test your eyes are working correctly, our opticians select the tests most appropriate for you.

The eye examination will typically last 20 – 30 minutes and will cover much more than testing your vision. A brief history of your vision and general health, your family’s health and your work/lifestyle will be discussed to find the best solutions for you.

The health of your eye will be thoroughly examined and many medical conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, high cholesterol and high blood pressure can be detected. Any problems that you are experiencing with your vision will be investigated and appropriate advice given.

If spectacles are required then different options will be discussed before you see one of our dispensing assistants who will give you full advice as to the best type of lens for your needs and the most suitable frames.

Contact lenses may also be discussed at this point to cover any roles in your life, work or sports. The new era of contact lenses can now cover single vision, astigmatism and varifocal vision so age and ability has no boundaries, 90% of people are suitable and a free contact lens trial can be arranged after the results of your eye exam have been found.
